What began as a Maple Grove City Council directive in 2017 became a plan approved by the Maple Grove Park Board in 2018. Then, in August 2019, a ribbon-cutting ceremony made it all official.

A handful of organizations joined forces to build the newly opened sports fields. These include the Hennepin County Youth Sports Program and Osseo Area Schools, as well as associations supporting MapleBrook Soccer, Maple Grove Youth Football and Maple Grove Youth Lacrosse.
Located across from Maple Grove High School at 99th Avenue and Fernbrook Lane, the complex impresses with its amenities. This state-of-the-art facility features:

Designed with durability and player comfort in mind, the pitches feature a synthetic surface, FieldTurf CoolPlay. The high-tech layer system consists of sand, cryogenic styrene-butadiene rubber and composite cork. These materials provide abrasion resistance and a 20 degree reduction in surface temperature without compromising performance.
Fernbrook Fields is the first athletic complex in the Midwest to use such a system. Many professional sports teams use the same turf structure on their training grounds and stadiums.
